Joe Allen sent out information about Canvas expectations for all teachers in the 2015-2016 school year.  POC's will provide additional training and coaching the first week back to school in August.  POC's will also attend training for "Synergy", the attendance and grade features in Canvas and present that training and coaching the week of Aug. 17.

Scheduling Canvas training during PIP time presented some challenges.  Heather, Annie, Pam and I were not available to train the 7th Grade team during their PIP time today due to our teaching schedules.  I requested coverage for my 7th grade class to meet with the 7th grade team.

HCPSS provided funds for subs for teachers on the April 15 Canvas training day.  Nice!

My Canvas training will take place April 15.  POC's will present an introduction to Canvas to their school staff on the May 1 Professional Learning Day.  There is a conflict with my schedule to take the Lake Elkhorn Middle School Concert Choir to the Music In the Parks Festival in Hershey, PA on that day.  There is also a conflict for colleague Heather France-Kelly who is presenting ELA training on that day.  Considering the knowledge I gained about presenting PD in my Educational Technology program, I offered Mr. Vandenberge an alternate training schedule of three sessions over three weeks during PIP meetings instead of one long three hour session.  The three sessions Heather France-Kelly, Annie Herbert, Pam Winkleman-Etue and I presented were well received by the staff.

I have been offered an opportunity to be a Canvas Point Of Contact for Lake Elkhorn Middle School.  My internship work with Edmodo has prepared me for this opportunity.
